Carver Stucco ET Alcohol Based Gap Filler – Where to use

Gaps between the floorboards can be a lot of trouble. Dirt can get in, the draft that passes through it will freeze your feet & liquid spillages can leak between the floorboards and cause more issues. A quick and efficient way of filling up the gaps is with a gap filler. If the gaps are between 0 to 0.5 cm wide, you can use our amazing gap filler to fill it. Basically a special mixture will be used to fill up the gaps and create a smooth surface on your floors. The gaps will still be visible but the dirt will not be able to penetrate. The durability and suitability of your gap filler can depend on a number of factors. If the floor is very flexible and moves all over the place, the gap filler won’t last for long. If the floor gets a lot of shocks (kids jumping on it the whole day), then the gap filler will not last for long. If the gaps are over 0.5 cm wide, there is a risk that the gap filler will crack. But if the floorboards are pretty fixed, if the floor gets normal traffic & if the gaps are below 0.5 cm wide, you will enjoy years of draft free floors.

The gap filler can be used to fill up gaps, repair imperfections in wood, fix up cracks & attach floorboards to each other. A wood floor gap filled will move less and it will make less squeaky noises.

Carver Stucco ET Alcohol Based Gap Filler – How to use

The idea of a gap filler is to fill up the gaps and not to alter the look of the floor. To do so, you will need to sand up your wooden floor and use the dust generated in the process of sanding to mix up with the gap filler to create a thick paste. This thick paste has to be applied to the gaps with some kind of applicator. The gaps have to be fully filled and the paste has to overflow the gaps. About 2 hours later re-sand the whole floor one more time. If the gaps were filled up properly, you should see a nice, flat surface where the gaps are visible but filled. Seal the whole floor as usual. The gap filler can be stained, lacquered or oiled.

Filling the gaps between floorboards is not a very complicated operation. A bit of common sense is needed and some basic tools. If you are not 100% confident that you can complete the job, do not start. Hire a professional floor sanding company.
