• White wash / scandinavian white primer compatible with all unsealed floors

Bona Nordic Tone – What is it?

Bona Nordic Tone is water-based white primer that can be used on unsealed wooden floors to create a white wash or Scandinavian finish. The product has no odour, it will create no fumes & it will be fully absorbed by the wood. Even if the primer is waterborne, it is 100% compatible with Bona Hardwax Oil. Bona Nordic Tone cannot be sealed with a varnish. Hardwax Oils only.

Bona Nordic Tone – How do you use it?

Prepare the surface well before applying it. Remove all old finishes and any type of residue from the surface. You should finish the floor in detail to prevent imperfections being visible under the top coat. Finish the floor with 100 grit sandpaper, vacuum well, check all corners and all hard to reach areas & then apply the first coat of Bona Nordic Tone. You can use a brush to apply the product around the edges and all areas where the roller is unlikely to fit. Then use a roller to apply the primer on all large areas. The floor has to look wet but not soaked. One coat should do the job but more coats are possible if you are looking for a more intense white. 3 to 5 hours later (depending on temperature & ventilation) you should seal the surface with Bona Hardwax Oil. You can use 1 or two coats of hardwax oil with at least a 12 hours break between coats. Do not walk on the floor while drying and try to avoid washing the floor for 1 week after it was treated.

Bona Nordic Tone 5L should cover about 50 sq meters but it can vary depending on a number of factors like, the type of wood, how well the floor was sanded & the experience of the person applying it. Take your time and allow the surface to dry before doing more coats. If done right, the results are just amazing.
