The Oyster Tavern

General information

The Oyster Tavern nestles in Tralee Bay shadowed by the Slieve Mish mountains. Originally the Oyster Tavern was a small country pub and in 1974 they started cooking local seafood from the home kitchen. The fishing boats delivering fish and oysters daily from the oyster beds nearby in Tralee Bay. The Oyster Beds a natural resource and one of the last natural beds left in Europe. In 1988 the famous Jim Mc Grath took the Oyster Tavern on board and continued the tradition of fresh local seafood oysters mussels steaks and other dishes. The Oyster Tavern is also famous for its Bar its extensive wine list the great music the craic and the odd party in the Barn. The Oyster is well established within the community one being part of the other. We value the wonderful locals our customers and our amazing staff. We appreciate their loyalty and would be lost without them. We are now part of the WILD ATLANTIC WAY and will have a more international flavour into the future.
